Grade level: 7-12

Subject: Business, Marketing and Informational Technology

Number of years teaching: 9

What makes you eager to start a new semester or new year? I always get excited, and nervous, to see the kids at the start of the year. I have been blessed with the opportunity to serve many students over the past nine years and form so many meaningful relationships with

the kids.

Looking back, what advice would you give toyourself as a first-year teacher? The best advice I

would give to my first-year teaching self would be to invest more into relationships. Students won’t always remember what they learned in your class, but they will always remember how you made them feel. Every interaction leaves someone feeling better or worse, and

you never know how impactful an interaction can be in a student’s life. Leave them better.

What is the best book you’ve read recently? “Why We Get Sick” by Dr. Benjamin Bikman - This is a truly fascinating book about how insulin resistance affects the human body and why that should matter to us.
