MSTA held a contest in April and asked for nominations of teachers doing great things in their community. We had over 400 responses! During Teacher Appreciation Week, we are sharing the nominations from the winners.

One of our drawing winners was Casey Laws.  This is what Diane Warner said about Casey:

Mr. Laws was my 5th grade teacher. It was that year I knew I wanted to be a teacher. He went to our sporting events and other things outside of school, and that was really cool as a student to see your teacher outside of school. Now as a teacher myself, he is a great resource when I need advice. I have learned a lot from Mr. Laws over the 18+ years I have known him. He even still comes to events in my life. I got married this last summer and Mr. Laws made it to my wedding. Thank you, Casey, for being such an inspiration in my life and giving me someone to strive to be like.

(The picture is of Mr. Laws and my twin sister at her wedding.)

The Missouri State Teachers Association is thankful to work with more than 47,000 inspiring educators like Casey.

MSTA would like to thank our amazing sponsors Culver-Stockton College and Western Governors University who helped make this year’s Thank-a-Teacher contest possible.
