A lot of teachers depend on summer to be their outlet for self-care but it’s something that needs to be addressed throughout the year.
Burnout is a real problem in education and taking care of yourself is an important way to keep yourself engaged in the profession.

This month’s article at EdWeek discusses how self-care is key to being at your best in the classroom.

Discussion questions:
Do you have specific ways you take care of yourself during the school year?
Does your district have a formal program for helping staff with self-care?
Do you have a story about when you realized it was time to step back and spend time taking care of yourself? (I feel like all teachers have had moment like this)
What advice would you give a brand new teacher about avoiding burnout and maintaining social-emotional health?
