In a completely rational society, the best of us would aspire to be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less, because passing civilization along from one generation to the next ought to be the highest honor and the highest responsibility anyone could have.
Q: I forgot my password. What do I do?
A: Go to the MSTA page. Select the “Forgot your password?” link next to the “Login” button. The next screen will allow you to enter your e-mail address. After you submit it, follow the instructions on the screen. You will receive an e-mail message with a new link to the MSTA Web site. Open the message, click on the link and type in a new password.
(If your e-mail address does not match the address that MSTA has on file, your request will automatically be rejected, and you will need to call the Member Care Center at 800-392-0532 so they can update your e-mail address in our records.)
Keep in mind that the password must be at least six characters in length. No single quotes, double quotes, pound signs or space characters are allowed. The next time you log in, you can use your new password.
Q: I don’t like using a number for my username. Can I create another username?
A: Yes. You can change both your username and password. After you login for the first time, select the “Edit login” button on the left side of the page. Then fill in the blanks on the next screen with your preferred username and new password. Then click the “Submit” button. The next time you need to log in, you can use your new username.
Q: How can I change my password?
A: Use the process described above.
Q: I typed my e-mail on your Web site to get a new password, but when I clicked the “Submit” button, I got a message that the data doesn’t match the records. Why?
A: You have given us an e-mail address that’s different from the one we have on file for you. Since we can’t verify your identity, we can’t send you a new password. Call the Member Care Center at 800-392-0532 to update your e-mail address in the MSTA directory.
Q: How do I update my personal information, such as my e-mail address and phone number?
A: Log in with your username and password and click on “My profile” on the left side of the MSTA home page. A page with your profile will appear on the screen. Select the “Edit” button on the right. On the next screen, enter your new information and click on "Submit."
Q: What are e-communities?
A: E-communities are areas of the Web site where users may post and download documents, hold discussions and read news items specific to each community’s content. Users may subscribe to certain communities to participate in discussions.
Q: How can I find out what communities I have access to?
A: After you log in, select the "Communities" link. On the next page, select the "Subscribe to Communities" link, and you will open a page that lists all communities available to you, with buttons to "Subscribe" on the right.
MSTA has created a number of communities that you are invited to participate in. In the future, you will be able to request a community for your CTA, MSTA region, standing committee or student chapter.
Q: How do I subscribe to a community?
A: When you are logged in with your username and password, select the "Communities" link on the left side of the MSTA home page. You will see a list of communities that you are subscribed to — if any — under "My communities" and a list of communities you are not subscribed to under "Subscribe to communities." Select that link, and you will open a page that lists any communities available to you. Scroll down to the community you are interested in and click on "Subscribe."
Q: How do I unsubscribe from a community?
A: Follow the same procedure described above. When you open the page of all communities that you have access to, you will see the button "Unsubscribe" next to the communities you are subscribed to. Scroll down to the community that you want to leave and click on "Unsubscribe."
Q: What if I want to create my own community?
A: MSTA has created a number of communities that you are invited to participate in. In the future, you will be able to request a community for your CTA, MSTA region, standing committee or student chapter.
Q: I am looking for information I can’t find on your Web site. What do I do?
A: Call the Member Care Center at (800) 392-0532, or e-mail your question to membercare@msta.org.
