Contests

MSTA/CTA activity and creativity contest

The MSTA Public Relations Committee sponsors an American Education Week contest designed to recognize both the level of overall effort and exceptional examples of creativity.

Incentive contest

This contest is structured so that CTAs get points for each time they engage in a recommended activity during the week. All CTAs that participate will be recognized and rewarded with a certificate according to the level of their effort, as measured by their total number of points. The three award categories are as follows:

  • Highlighter - 5 to 50 points
  • Spotlighter - 55 to 150 points
  • Headliner - 155+ points

Download the Incentive Contest form here.

The CTA achieving the highest point total will be recognized at MSTA’s state convention the following year.

Creativity contest

A second contest encourages and rewards creativity and original ideas.

  • An activity undertaken by MSTA members may be submitted for this contest provided the CTA has obtained at least 50 points on the incentive form.
  • Entries will be judged on the basis of originality, impact, appeal and contribution to education.
  • Entrants should send a sample of the activity or a photograph for documentation. A description of the activity, not to exceed 500 words, must accompany the entry.
  • This must be a separate entry from the incentive contest and may highlight only one activity from the incentive contest.

The CTA winning this contest will be recognized at MSTA’s state convention the following year with a plaque and an award of $100.

Restrictions

Entries for both contests must be postmarked no later than Dec. 31, 2007. Activities should be clearly related to American Education Week or the theme. Only activities that take place during the period Nov. 1-30, 2007, are eligible.
